Buxton Recreation has collaborated with the Dance Studio of Maine to introduce your child to a variety of dancing techniques and styles. See class options below!
Instructor: Valerie (Val) Elazegui has been dancing since age three.
She has been a dance educator and coach for the last 15-years, professionally being awarded regionally and nationally for her choreography.
Born and raised in the midwest, Val has had the opportunity to enhance her(and her students)training through summer programs in both New York and Los Angeles. Her favorite part about teaching is seeing the joy and pride in dancers eyes when they get something right for the first time.
“From age 3 to 18, that excitement always exists.” When she is not teaching Val enjoys spending time with her two daughters and exploring Maine.
Creative Movement
Ages: 3-5
Dates: Thursdays, 4/25-6/13
Time: 5:00 PM - 5:45 PM
Cost: $94 for 8 week program
Location: Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road
Program Minimum: 5 Participants
These classes will introduce ballet/jazz basics and inspire young dancers to express themselves through movement. Movement is introduced, and has the students apply imagination, energy and coordination. Focus on form and technique is part of the curriculum along with allowing young children to enjoy dance and self-expression.
Musical Theater
Ages: 5-9
Dates: Thursdays, 4/25-6/13
Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Cost: $94 for 8 week program
Location: Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road
Program Minimum: 5 Participants
This class will focus on both learning the original Broadway choreography, and freshly choreographed pieces to be performed to music from various Broadway Musicals. This class will focus on performance and character development, as well as improvisational and audition techniques. If your child likes to dance, act or sing this is the class for them!
